Supporting Korle-Bu’s Centenary and 60 Years of Child Health Care

As part of the Centenary Celebration of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) and the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Child Health, the Zonta Club of Accra Metropolitan (ZCAM) commissioned and presented a refurbished children’s X-ray unit to the Department of Child Health at KBTH on August 2, 2024.
This initiative reflects the mission of Zonta International and ZCAM to improve the lives of women and children worldwide.

A Collaboration Focused on Impact

During the handover ceremony, the President of ZCAM, Zontian Dorothy Tackie, announced that the refurbishment was completed at a cost of GHC 65,000. She noted that the project was made possible through a partnership with the Klicks Africa Foundation and additional support from Thankful Hearts Community Projects.

She highlighted further contributions from New Horizon Special School and Haven International, who provided student-created paintings used as murals to decorate the space—transforming it into a warm and child-friendly environment.

Commitment to Enhancing Child Well-Being

Mrs. Tackie emphasized ZCAM’s ongoing mission to support initiatives that improve the quality of life for women and children, particularly those who are most vulnerable. She reaffirmed the club’s dedication to strengthening health outcomes for children and ensuring they have the opportunity to grow, thrive, flourish, and reach their full potential.

Official Handover

The fully refurbished unit was formally handed over to the leadership of both the Department of Child Health and the Radiology Department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
