International Day Of The Girl Child 2026: ZCAM Partners to End Child Marriage

In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Zonta Club of Accra Metropolitan (ZCAM) partnered with the International Child Development Programme (ICDP) and Flobar School in Adenta to host an educational and advocacy event focused on ending child marriage and protecting the rights and future of every girl child.

Resource personnel from ICDP led insightful sessions on child safeguarding, the different forms of violence against children, and the devastating impact child marriage can have on children’s education, wellbeing, opportunities and future aspirations.

ZCAM also delivered a solidarity message, reaffirming its commitment to advocating for the protection, empowerment and advancement of girls. The management of Flobar School equally lent its voice to this important cause, highlighting the need for collective action to safeguard children and create a safe and supportive environment for them to thrive.

The event served as a timely reminder that every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, dream and fulfil her potential without the threat of violence or the burden of early marriage.

Together, let us protect our girls, raise our voices and end child marriage. Every girl deserves a childhood, an education and a future of her own.
