The Elimination of Violence Against Women- ‘Conversations Over Tea’

As part of the activities marking Zonta’s 16 days of activism for eliminating violence against women, ZCAM organized a highly interactive meeting dubbed “Conversations Over Tea’ with corporate ladies on 23rd November 2024. Held in a garden setting at the Accra Ridge Church Fellowship Centre, the event brought together a bevy of ladies from various corporate institutions like Aviation, Ghana Airports, Associations of Engineers, Architects and Banks well as other Zonta Clubs in Accra, to discuss legal and social issues relating to workplace violence and policy initiatives. The experienced resource persons set the pace to ensure that participants felt free to talk dispassionately without personalizing issues. The discussions mainly centered around mental, sexual, latent violence and working in toxic environments. The interactions were enriched by the sharing of varying experiences at different workplaces. Some suggestions were given on how to solve them without creating conflict. The PID commended ZCAM for the very professional manner in which the sensitive topics were handled and intimated that previous attempts to broach the subject had not yielded the desired impact. Participants expressed satisfaction with the quality of the programme and an improvement of their understanding of Violence against women at the workplace and their corresponding policies.
