As part of the Centenary celebration of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the 60th anniversary of the Department of Child Health, the Zonta Club of Acera Metropolitan (ZCAM) presented a refurbished children’s x-ray unit to the Department of Child Health at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) on August 2, 2024. This initiative aligns with the mission of Zonta International and ZCAM to advance the status of women and children globally.

The President of ZCAM, Dorothy Tackie stated during the handover that the refurbishment was completed at a cost of GHC65,000. According to her, the project was made possible through a partnership with the Klicks Africa Foundation and support from Thankful Hearts Community Projects. “New Horizon Special School and Haven International also contributed by providing student-made paintings for murals on the walls of the unit, creating a child-friendly environment for the faciliry’s users.”

She emphasized that it is an ongoing mission for ZCAM to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life for women and children, who are among the most vulnerable in society. She reaffirmed ZCAM’s commitment to advancing the health and well-being of children, ensuring they have every opportunity to grow, thrive, flourish, and reach their fullest potential. The refurbished unit was officially handed over to the Heads of the Department of Child Health and the Radiology Department of KBTH.
