On March 21st 2022, a group of about Zonta Club of Accra Metro(ZCAM) members, made up of the President, some past Presidents , the Advocacy committee and other members visited Otwetire , a Community in the Eastern region of Ghana. They were invited by Mrs Joyce Larnyo, the Director of ICDP, an NGO, to meet with about 25 young marginalized women who had undergone literacy, numeracy, lifeskills and vocational skills classes and were now involved in organizing their own small businesses and managing their community’s savings and loans project. The ZCAM members interacted with them and shared their experiences in a mentoring session which was part of a community durbar. Donations were made to boost their savings, and products such as solid and liquid soap were bought to boost their small businesses. The young women led the Zontians to a stream and water source in the community to brief them on an Advocacy intervention they had embarked on with the District Assembly. Zonta initiated discussions to support the group with a feasibility study for the potable water project.
