Mentor programme at Adjirigano Basic School in Accra

Here, our focus was on educating the school children on public health and good hygiene practices especially among the females. Our interaction with the School revealed that there was perennial water shortage in the area in which the School was located. Our Club donated a 750 gallon water tank to serve as a reservoir, as part of the process of promoting personal hygiene

Mentor programme at Amrahia Basic School in Accra

At the Amrahia Basic School, a sub-urban school, about 8 kilometres from Accra. The Club’s theme for the 2009 -2010 was: ‘Mentor for a better and healthy child’

After our initial visit, where we interacted with the staff and pupils, we felt that the need was in the area of boosting the self-esteem, especially of the girl child as part of the process of encouraging them to study hard and stand up in the face of chal-lenges.

Members of our Club spent a half-day at the School during which we interacted with them. We had a wonderful time with the pupils. We later donated a quantity of books, and identified 10 needy girls from among the pupils who we provided school uniforms.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME AT SOWA DIN JSS

The Club made a donation of books to equip the library at Sowa Din JSS

Similar donation of books were made to the Adjirigano Basic School in July 2013 to equip their library. A follow up was done to find out how the children were improving on their reading.

In early June 2015, heavy rains caused flooding in Accra which left many homeless, and caused a fuel Station to explode, killing over 100 people in Adabraka, a suburb of Accra. The Club responded to a popular Radio Station, Starr FM’s requests for assistance and donated bales of used clothing and bags of drinking water to the victims of the disaster.
