ZCAM Projects
Enhancement of Child X-ray Department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. On 2nd August 2024 ZCAM joined her main partner Klicks Africa foundation and collaborators from the New Horizon School, the Haven and Thankful Hearts Community Projects to commission the refurbished Child X-ray Department in Korle-bu Teaching Hospital. The Project which was meant to make the department more child friendly, facilitate care for children and support parents and staff over-achieved its targets. In addition to the general enhancement of the whole department, the department was beautified with child friendly murals as well as a large television, air-conditioning and furniture for the child waiting room and some offices. A follow-on visit after six months indicated some changes were taking place – children were less agitated because they were engaged by the murals, TV programs and a generally nice atmosphere. Many of the mothers who were available expressed their gratitude for being supported to care for their children.

Webinar organized for Senior High Schools in commemoration of Amelia Earhart Day.

Webinar on Endometriosis. 5 Senior High Schools and other stakeholders participated.

A social media Campaign was organized to raise awareness. Messages were crafted and sent to selected stakeholders and the general public on a daily basis.

Celebration of the International Day of the Child And prevention of gender based violence. ZCAM members paid a visit to Amrahia Basic School in a deprived area on the outskirts of Accra. The group presented 100 phonic books to two different KG classes in two schools to reduce the economic burden on their caregivers. The group also presented two ceiling fans to Amrahia basic school to improve upon the quality of the teaching and learning.

ZCAM organized a webinar to exchange ideas on how to create pathways for professional women living with disability and how to advocate for more support for people living with Disability in Ghana.

In support of International Women’s Day, ZCAM organized a visit to support Marginalized Groups of girls to solicit support for a water Project in Otwetire in the Eastern Region

ZCAM launched a media campaign to raise awareness on the prevention interventions and mitigation of gender-based violence in different contexts. A billboard was erected at a vantage point to sensitize the general public on gender based violence and abuse. A walk of Zonta Club members was organized to raise awareness on the need to speak up and act against gender based violence.

ZCAM mobilized all other Zonta Clubs to support market women with sensitization sessions on digitalizing their trade transactions and banking/saving operations. In collaboration with a queenmother of Ga Mashie, they mobilised Market women at Agbogbloshie for this activity.

ZCAM members contributed to procuring reusable sanitary pads to support over 100 girls in a Community Basic School.

Zonta Club of Accra Metro members contributed to support part of the medical bill of a marginalized young girl living with a disability in Accra.

ZCAM, in collaboration with other Zonta Clubs organized a webinar on preparing the youth to adopt AI responsibly. Thousands of students in selected Senior high schools in Ghana participated actively in the webinar. The event was also used to commemorate Zonta’s 104th anniversary.

ZCAM, in collaboration with the Klicks Africa Foundation, refurbished the Child X-ray Department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The project, which aimed to provide care for children and support their parents, was part of the Centenary celebration events for Korle-Bu.

The staff of the department were full of admiration for the sponsors of the project because in their own words ‘it has made service delivery less challenging and more enjoyable. Children and their parents are happier’.

International Women’s Day
On the 8th of March, 2025, Zonta Club of Accra Metropolitan(ZCAM) collaborated with International Child Development Programme (ICDP) Ghana, Ghana Health Service, Camfed , Deeprock and Ultrasound Consultant International LLC- USA to celebrate International Women’s day under the SafeStart Project and initiative to promote maternal health in communities.
Zonta Club marks IWD with market women at Agbogloshie
Zonga Club Ghana held the International Women’s Day (IWD) with market women at Agbogloshie in Accra as part of activities to highlight present concerns of women.
